In the Studio with…Sincerely Wilson

By September 25, 2014December 6th, 2015No Comments

OK, so those of you who follow me on Instagram would’ve seen that I recently hopped in the studio with UK based soul singer Sincerely Wilson.

I’ve been a fan of Wilson for many years now, after meeting him at a small show we we’re both on the bill for.  He struck me then as a stand out artist as he laid soulful tones on a heartfelt track during his perforamnce. We got to talking after each of our sets (I remember calling him UK’s answer to Dwele, complements abound, but he’s evolved since then) and a friendship was born. The thing is we hadn’t worked on anything together musically and since we have a real friendship beyond music I really wanted to take the opportunity to do just that with this new record I’m working on.

He joined myself, Chemo and my co-d producer Isyss down at Kilamanjaro Studios in Forest Hill last week to lay the vocals and bring himself to a track I’d written, (currently we’re calling Stay with Mebut the title might change by the time we get to release date lol). I’d written the track with Wilson specifically in mind, so it made it all the more special that he agreed to jump on, and did so beyond my estimations of the track. There’s something poetical in the fact we’re both taking major life steps at the point of collaborating on this, so I hope that translates when you finally hear it.

In the mean time, make sure you check out Wilson’s recent EP Tone of Art” to peep how talented this guy is. The opening track “Broken”, “Stranger” & “Love Junkie” are personal favs of mine; and I catch myself singing them on the train to work (Loudly so that all the carriage can hear me….F**k it, I have no shame! lol)

It’s been a while since I’ve put something out, so I know that must of you must be getting restless by now. I’m encouraged by how many of you tweet me or message me to find out what’s going on. Real life sometimes gets in the way, but  no excuses…it’s been too long. Rest assured I’m working on something that I feel is a true reflection of where I am as an artist and where my mindset is in this transitional period in my musical career. I’m also encouraged by the goings on in the scene and newly emerging artists like Little Simz, Nick Brewer, Hawk House, Adian Coker, etc. (Check these all out ’cause I’m in love with all their work).

I’m looking forward to sharing my new project with you, and I’m hoping you’ll be on my #TrainOfThought; one thing is for sure….Sincerely Wilson will be.

Peace out
